Horary 0123: Will I Get My Phone Today?

Overview

This chart was for myself.

I was having an utterly bizarre week in terms of electronics — very shadow Mercury stuff. A pair of earbuds had been stolen from me, and I had spent much of the week tracking their location when they popped up, leaving little tantalizing hints but amounting to nothing so far. I was really looking forward to the arrival of my new phone at the end of the week to alleviate this bummer.

When the day came, I again found myself craning my neck at my phone screen tracking a little electronic device all over town on a shitty little map. Then the driver arrived, handed me two other packages, and said to me, “I’ve been trying to find your other package. If I do find it, I’ll come back.”

The Days of Awe were approaching their climax, and I was beginning to seriously doubt that the Divine favored me this year. Then I was suddenly inspired to cast this chart.

Judgment

The timing of this chart was quite precise, since I asked the question of myself, so I was not concerned about the late ascendant as a consideration before judgment. However, the chart does need to show itself as radical in other ways.

I observed the Moon’s ingress into Capricorn minutes earlier, putting it in the 1st sign from the ascendant as the place of my own concerns, and yet it was safely within the 11th house by Placidus, further suggesting to me that this is not a bad Moon indication despite being in her antithesis in Capricorn. The Moon is also strong in light and supported by mutual reception with Jupiter by term.

Most importantly, though, she is applying immediately to Saturn, who would rule the ascendant and signify me even if the ascendant were in the next sign, but thanks to my precise timing, the ascendant is still in the sign the Moon herself is in. This felt like a good save on my part.

The question, of course, was whether that Moon could clearly signify my phone. My gut instinct was that it had to be, but I wanted confirmation. In my past experience, a package in transit is generally signified by the 8th house — 2nd from the 7th, the sender’s possession. However, in this case, I had already encountered the person who was meant to give me my package, and the reason I didn’t have it yet was his fault. This seemed like reason enough to consider the 7th house itself, though it remained to be seen whether this driver would turn out to be a partner or an enemy.

When I encountered him, he had been unable to find my package. At that time, the Moon would have still been applying a square to the Sun, who in this chart is the 2nd sign from the descendant, but by quadrant house that sign is intercepted and so is missing that signification as the carrier’s possession. Instead, that honor goes to devilish little Mercury still in the shadow of their retrograde. Furthermore, the Moon would have had weaker reception for Saturn, my significator, at that time.

But now, about an hour after that first encounter, the Moon had entered into the sign of my signification, and she would soon make contact with Saturn by sextile. The symbol of this cardinal-earth Moon as the little brown truck coming back to me was too delightful to deny despite my frazzled state, and I judged it a yes.

Outcome

About 40 minutes later, the little brown truck came back and delivered my phone to me in a little brown box.

Analysis

I don’t do much horary for myself anymore, having learned some difficult lessons about getting too entangled with my own astrology. But this was a case where I was having a bit of a crisis of faith (I haven’t even told you the half of it), I was crying out earnestly for a sign at a spiritually critical time of the Jewish year, and I was inspired in no uncertain terms by a voice inside to turn to the art of astrology in that moment.

I am grateful beyond measure to have been rewarded for that act of faith.
