If you ask me, the real job of writing is keeping in touch.

Yes, I write a lot of “posts,” and those transmit my thoughts to no one in particular, but I wouldn’t write them if they weren’t spiritually written to someone.

Honestly, if you’re here, they were written to you.

The Family Business is an email letter that is explicitly from me to you, in which I tell you what I’m up to and how it’s going, with hope — but no expectation — that you will write me back and do likewise.

Correspondence is becoming a lost art, but it’s one I hold sacred and practice often and well.
