Horary 0083: Where Is Vladimyr the Cat (Again!)?

Overview

The infamous Vladimyr the Cat had gone missing again. This time the querent had reason to believe their roommate had left a door unlatched that allowed Vladimyr to escape. The querent thoroughly checked the house (including the creepy basement places in which he was hiding last time) to no avail. They were worried last time, but they seemed considerably more worried this time.

In contemporary astrology circles, there is a turn of phrase that comes to mind where people describe significant personal events as “my [insert transit] story.” This querent’s Mars in Leo story was hilariously literal: the multiple disappearances of Vladimyr the Cat. His first caper took place with Mars at 00º♌︎ Fortunately, this question came in with Mars at 29º♌︎11', so I felt confident reporting that this story would be over soon.

Judgment

I immediately noted retrograde Saturn on the ascendant as a consideration before judgment, but having passed the angle and entered the 12th house of his joy and ruling the 12th house cusp, I considered this a radical description of the querent’s intense worry about Vladimyr. Seeing no interference with the rest of the judgment, I pressed on.

Hilariously, Leo (you know, the one symbolized by a cat) is back in a major way. In the first Vladimyr chart, the sign was intercepted, meaning the Sun (ruler of Leo) was a sort of free agent cat entity despite not falling on the 6th house cusp of small animals. This time, Leo is on the 6th, so the Sun is straightforwardly Vladimyr’s significator.

I described the Sun in Cancer as unable to see his house (that is, Leo) and not in great shape in terms of essential dignity, but he’s in a good house and can see the ascendant. He’s not in danger or unable to get home.

The 5th house is the place of children, play, and creativity, so I offered possible nearby places like a playground, school, or sports field. The water sign of Cancer also suggests outdoor conditions, and not ones where a house cat is likely to be surpassingly comfortable.

The querent is signified by Jupiter, ruler of the ascendant, and the Moon. The Sun in Cancer yearns for the Moon, and the Moon in Aries exalts the Sun — Vladimyr and the querent want each other back. Jupiter and the Sun can see each other by sign, which is testimony that recovery is possible. The Moon is in a long void, but fortunately she is within a day’s travel of contact with the Sun at the time the chart was cast. I said “it may take a while, but the testimony is there that he’ll come back okay.”

Outcome

Right after Mars left Leo and entered Virgo, the querent went outside to load a trap with tuna, and Vladimyr came toddling up to them “babbling like a baby,” which is an absurdly literal manifestation of a significator in the 5th house of children. The querent heard him coming before they saw him and “literally thought a child was outside playing at 11 p.m.” due to the sound he was making.

Analysis

Cat horaries are so poetic and literal that I’ve begun to suspect astrology was placed in the world in order to keep track of where cats are.
