Horary 0044: Will My Team Win the Game?

Overview

The chart is for the outcome of a baseball game.

After what happened last time, I had decided to stop casting sports charts for myself. When I mentioned I was going to a baseball game, though, @sadalsvvd immediately and eagerly asked if I was going to predict it. I thought about it for one second, and I realized this was a different situation.

I follow the local soccer team. I care a lot about what happens. Getting my spiritual practice of supporting the team mixed up with the spiritual practice of horary astrology was a mess, as I had plainly seen. But I don’t follow baseball. I enjoy baseball, but just for the experience. I support my local team, but I’m not invested in it. Perhaps this would be a good way to continue practicing my sports horary skills while leaving my beloved soccer team out of it!

The lesson from last time was loud enough that I was still hesitant, so I decided to do some preliminary divination on whether to do some divination. I drew three tarot cards and threw the astrodice, and it seemed like a pretty clear, if somewhat jocular, encouragement to go for it.

I took the tarot sequence to be about a transformation from rule interpretation (Justice) to sensitive intuition (Queen of Pentacles) via practice (4 of Cups). The dice showing Neptune in the Pisces 11th said something more like, “THE PSI IS COMING DOWN FROM GOD WHETHER YOU CHECK IT OR NOT.”

I checked in with myself and felt that I would be okay no matter what happens, and then I decided to cast the chart. It did not take long to judge.

Judgment

As I mentioned in my last sports horary, this transit of Jupiter through Aries is personally significant of my revived interest in sports. I saw it here at the top of the chart, deeply combust but a day from cazimi, with the significators of both teams in its domicile, and I went, “Wow. This game wants me to play.”

My team is signified by the Moon, ruler of the ascendant, and the opponent by Saturn. As mentioned above, both are in the domicile of Jupiter. Both are imminently entering succedent houses, meaning they are of equal strength. You could judge Saturn being in sect in the day chart as stronger than the Moon, but on the other hand, you could judge the 5th house to be stronger than the 8th house. Call it a wash.

However, the Moon’s next aspect is a trine to the exalted Sun on the midheaven. Furthermore, the chart was for a Moon Day. The standard operating procedure with a harmony of the lights like that is to call the game right then and there. I noted that it would be close, given the identical strength of the significators by accidental dignity, but I judged that the home team would win.

Outcome

The home team won by a come-from-behind two-run homer in the bottom of the 10th inning.

The chart was very clear about this outcome, and that was gratifying, but it was also, for lack of a better description, a loud chart, and it was by every measure a loud game.

There were some weird omens all along. The top and bottom of the first inning were almost identical. Hit, walk, double play, strikeout. This might not have struck me as strange had the significators of the teams not had exactly identical strength by house.

At another point, four foul balls were hit right at us over the course of about five minutes. Certainly never had that one before.

It was a 0-0 game for a while, but the home team pulled ahead in a late enough inning that we decided to leave and listen in the car on the way home. That was when the trouble started. The away team tied it up in the 9th and pulled ahead by 1 in the top of the 10th. Just as I began to brace myself for another inexplicably incorrect prediction, a walk-off two-run homer to center field brought about the harmony of the lights.

Analysis

This was a very fun game to watch, and the astrology made it all the more so. I am glad I took the decision of whether to cast a chart for this game as seriously as I did, and I will continue to use those kinds of protocols for questions involving myself. Spiritual hygiene for readings for querents is easier for me, but I need to use more protection when allowing myself to become emotionally invested. I’ve seen enough examples of what happens when I don’t, and fortunately this is what happens when I do.
