Being an Ancestor

I have undergone a fair number of Spiritual Tests, and none of them has demonstrated anything of any interest compared to “Can you be an ancestor, right now, to living, present beings?”

I hate to say it, but with that on the scale, “Will my sanity withstand this head full of acid?” does not register above “Will my sanity withstand this body full of seasonal virus?” in significance.

That’s not to say those experiences aren’t significant, it’s just that they belong to a category of “things that are only happening to one person.”

It’s not even fair to say such experiences weren’t necessary to prepare me for this experience, because, by dint of having happened first, they did. But certainly I would trust any other parent to be someone who knows everything I know, such as it is.

Of course, most of what I know now can fairly be summed up as, “You just have to keep it together for a few more years.”
