Ascensional Times

The more I study, the more ascensional times appear to be the key underlying dynamic of tropical astrology. Precession is therefore important to account for in its techniques, and this is the way in which the solar year remains accountable to the stars at every latitude.

Ascensional times underlie a lot more of the indications of the signs than it seems from the typical lists of associations. And points on the zodiac on opposite sides of the tropics — i.e. points with parallel ascensional times (antiscia) — are sort of equivalent to conjunctions!

I think people actually (insultingly) believe the ancients DIDN’T KNOW about precession; of course, they did. The issue was, allowing the ascensional times of signs to slip would break the techniques! It’s all still predicated on the EARTH SKY POV, but it’s not just about the SUN.

Knowing which star is “the north star” is the same wisdom body.

The Sun does not NEED to be privileged in tropical astrology as much as it is if we recognize that the underlying mechanism is precession of Earth’s WHOLE SKY.

Of course, the solstices and equinoxes of OUR star still seems like a perfectly reasonable place to pin it.
