I saw the teaser trailer for Star Wars: The Force Awakens with Dustin Chambers, David Gunter, and John Larsen on Friday, November 28, 2014 before the 7:10 p.m. showing of Interstellar at the Regal Atlantic Station 18 IMAX in Atlanta, Georgia. What follows is my prediction for the plot of the film, which I made that night. I have transcribed this prediction to be committed to the online record on December 9, 2014 at 3:48 p.m. It will never be edited.
If this prediction proves accurate when the film is released in December 2015, I shall be immediately awarded 9,000,000 Internet points.
There has been an awakening…
John Boyega's character is a rogue stormtrooper being pursued by the remnants of Imperial forces trying to regroup after the defeat of Emperor Palpatine and the establishment of the New Republic. (As the rogue trooper flees, you can hear in the trailer the familiar coded transmissions of Imperial probe droids.) The embattled Imperial forces are in hiding, intent on preventing the Republic from discovering them.
This trooper has received a vision that he is sensitive in the ways of the Force — an awakening, if you will. This has put him in psychic contact with Master Luke Skywalker, teacher of the first generation of Jedi since the establishment of the Empire. If the commanders of the hidden battle group learn of this contact, the trooper will be punished severely. Seeing no other choice, he flees to the frontier, but his very presence brings the threat of… entanglements with him everywhere he goes. Or worse.
Skywalker convinces the finest pilots in the Republic to aid in the half-blind search for this man, but neither they nor the hidden dark forces are fully aware of the implications for the fate of the galaxy.
